Lexi’s Timeline

On March 22, 2016, Lexi Page, a well-adjusted foster child in Santa Clarita, California, was abruptly removed from the only home she had known the past 4 years of her life. This page outlines the timeline of events leading up to Lexi’s removal from her de facto parents. Learn more about Lexi’s Story or ways that you can Take Action to help bring her home.

  • 11/2009 – Lexi is born
  • 4/2011 – Lexi is detained by LA County Social Services
  • 5/2011 – Lexi is moved to second foster home after abuse
  • 12/2011 – Lexi comes to the Page’s house
  • 1/2012 – Indian Unit unable to locate Indian Foster Home, asks Pages to become full-time foster family during reunification
  • 10/2012 – Reunification services are terminated (10 months after placement with the Pages & after Lexi is “extremely bonded & attached”)
  • 10/2012 – Lexi meets family from Utah in California for the first time
  • 11/2012 – Tribe & Department recommend immediate placement in Utah
  • 1/2013 – Lexi’s attorney opposes move to Utah, files Do Not Remove order & submits Page’s De Facto paperwork
  • 3/2013 – Pages granted De Facto status, giving them a voice in court for the first time
  • Q1/2013 – Pages try to arrange visitation with Lexi & her half-sister many times, unsuccessful
  • 12/2013 – Trial court orders Lexi moved to Utah, no good cause
  • 12/2013 – Court of Appeals stays trial court order pending appeal
  • 8/2014 – Court of Appeals reverses and remands 12/2013 decision citing the incorrect standard was used to determine good cause
  • Q1/2015 – Lexi’s half-sister moves to Utah from LA County
  • 3/2015 – Lexi’s second half-sister born,moved directly to Utah, apparently without reunification services for the biological parents; unclear how placement is consistent with ICWA, status of placement (temporary vs pre-adoptive) unclear; DCFS has provided no information regarding the situation.
  • 11/3/2015 – Trial court orders Lexi moved to Utah, no good cause
  • 11/25/2015 – Appellate court issues a writ of mandate, reprimanding the court for applying the word-for-word wrong standard from the first trial error. Demands speedy resolution
  • 2/24/2016 – Trial court orders Lexi moved to Utah, no good cause
  • 3/18/2016 – Court of Appeals denies writ request
  • 3/21/2016 – Lexi removed from the Page’s home
